Follow the blog

I added a button so that everyone could subscribe to the blog and get an email when Mark and I post something.  This means of course that we better have lots of funny things happen to us (as usual) so we can share with you... unless it's reliving the Turkish Bath story from Istanbul on my birthday three years ago!!

The Decision

Even though we've had tickets since last freakin' September, I have looked nearly daily to see if a better routing opened up for this year's trip.  I don't know the mnemonic for what I have, but it stops tonight.  Just booked us to Milan via Munich in an astonishingly quick 13.5 hr journey... our previous journey was more like 19 hours with layovers.   I love Lufthansa btw - their international business class is superior to a US carrier even if the seats only lie-flat @ 170 degrees on their Airbus A340-600Our metal has the latest configuration so should be posh enough and there is a down comforter and big pillow destined for seat 5A!

A pod in the front of the plane is bliss; ottoman, big screen TV, unlimited movie options, music, buttons to adjust your seat in 200 ways, and the hope of decent sleep whilst prisoner in a metal tube filled with flammable liquid screaming through the atmosphere for 11.5 hours!  No one is allowed to say anything about the A320 we have to fly over the Alps to land in Milan... terrible what happened this week on that Germanwings flight.

There was a complication to this wonderful plan... we had to leave a week earlier than planned... ooops, that means nearly 5 weeks abroad?  It was at that moment that I was summoned to a late night call for work, with my boss attending, so I decided to beg... texted his personal phone and asked permission to take all my PTO in a chunk... who gets to do that these days... All I will say is I have an awesome boss.  I told him I could work from Lake Garda as well as the Marina Bay, and he said "what happens in the lago, stays in the lago, but no work".... cool.  Of course it means I have a lot to do in the next 8 days.

So we've decided to hang outside Venice for a week until our Villa in Asolo is ready on the 12th.  One of my favorite memories is Mark and I waking up at O'dark early and riding a boat to watch the sunrise over Venice... such an amazing city.  Bolognese is best in Bologna, and I've heard about Two Men From Verona... so no shortage of stuff to do... I just want to wake up whenever my body wants to, and eat awesome different food, and have fun with my friend.  From screaming match over petty shit to sharing plates on the menu in minutes, that's how we roll!  After 30 years, that is the definition of an old married couple... good thing we're not!

It's gonna be an adventure... I hope you enjoy the trip with us... You know I had to book an E-class for the two weeks in Germany... me gonna get some autobahn time!!!
