I think each of us got at least 6 hrs sleep, so feeling pretty darn good... Asked attendant to wake up Mark for breakfast before landing (careful not to wake a sleeping bear) and attendant said "he's sleeping very deeply".... Better you than me Gerhard...
Transit through Frankfurt Airport is easy, stopped in the Lounge for a coffee, and now sitting next to a Tibetan Monk and the Czech Republic rugby team waiting for our flight to Venice Marco Polo airport.
AVIS treated us well; a brand new diesel BMW wagon which fits us and our gear well. After a quick nap in our chic little hotel, we headed across the street to the train 10 minutes to Venice proper. Been here many times before, but it's always enchanting.
A little Spaghetti Carbonara and Milanese Cutlet (Italian Schnitzel) and we walked past all the gelato and cannoli shops and headed back for an evening of better sleeping via chemistry.
Oh, and if you forgot to pick up some necessary contraception, it's available in a convenient vending machine on the corner... Couldn't find an ATM, but access to the Durex collection. Either we're in a "busy nighttime neighborhood" or Catholic contraception is moving toward the 21st century...
Happy Easter and Passover to all. Tomorrow we take the BMW (sport, comfort, and Eco- modes) for a spin into the countryside. Eco mode BTW means the car engine stops and starts automatically at a red light. Takes some getting used to...
